Guanajuato, Gto., January 28, 2019.- The Engineering Division (DI) of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG) achieved the international accreditation of the educational programs of mining engineering, metallurgical engineering and geologist Engineer of the Department of Mining Engineering, Metallurgy and Geology.

With this great academic achievement, granted by the Accreditation Council of the Engineering Education A.C. (CACEI), the graduated students from these educational programs will be able to do postgraduate studies and/or to practice their profession abroad.

This was announced at a press conference, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera, Rector of the Guanajuato Campus; Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of the Division of Engineering, Eng. Lucila Martínez Torres, Coordinator of the educational program of Geologist Engineer; Dr. Enrique Elorza Rodríguez, Coordinator of the educational program of Metallurgy Engineering and Dr. Roberto Ontiveros Ibarra, coordinator of the Education Program of mining engineering.

It is worth mentioning that in November 2018, the aforementioned educational programs were submitted to the international accreditation process granted by the Accreditation Council of the Engineering Education A.C. (CACEI); The result was satisfactory, and the accreditation was granted for the period 2018-2023.

Accreditation based on international standards such as those governed by the Washington Accord, makes it possible to strengthen the international recognition of the education programs of the Engineering Division and continue with its leadership in higher education, meet high-level academic quality standards; In addition, it allows to incorporate important improvements in these academic programs and in all the services that are offered.

In this tenor, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera, stressed that with this achievement, the Guanajuato Campus obtains, in an outstanding way, the fulfillment of a goal of the PLADI posed for the 2020; So the graduates will be able to practice their profession practically anywhere in the world: "It is an academic achievement of a great draught and of which we are very proud of the effort of all the staff".

Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of the Division of Engineering, agreed that it was an important challenge that involved a lot of work to meet the quality standards, in which it worked more than a year and on December 11, 2018, they were made to know that they had the accreditation for a five-year period.

Finally, he reported that the quality aspects of: Academic staff, students, educational programs, curriculum or syllabus, assessment and continuous improvement, infrastructure and equipment and support were valued in this accreditation. institution, for which he made a public recognition to Eng. Lucila Martínez, Coordinator of the program of Geologist Engineer; Dr. Enrique Elorza, Coordinator of the Metallurgy Engineering program and Dr. Roberto Ontiveros, Coordinator of the Mining Engineering program.

The coordinators announced that to date students of these educational programs have participated in mobility activities in Peru, Guatemala, United States, Canada, Colombia, West Virginia, France, China, and several states of the Mexican Republic.

It should be mentioned that this Wednesday 30th of January, in the theatre of Mines of the headquarters San Matías of the division of Engineering, will carry out the awards ceremony and unveiling of the commemorative plaques of the international accreditation, in charge of the director General of the Accreditation Council of the teaching of the engineering A.C. (CACEI), M. Maria Elena Barrera Bustillos.
