Tierra Blanca, Gto., February 13, 2019.- Students from the Northeast Interdisciplinary Center of Guanajuato (CINUG) confirmed their thesis hypothesis in which they raised that the consumption of water contaminated with fluoride is associated with the low IQ when obtained as a result that people who consume water with high fluoride content 3.4 times higher, have the risk of presenting a low IQ unlike those who do not consume it.

Cecilia Martínez Ramírez and Patricia Rodríguez Juárez conducted the study in two communities belonging to the municipality of San Luis de La Paz, where 80 people between 15 and 25 years of age were analyzed, of which 44 were women and 38 men.

They studied the relationship between fluoride-contaminated water and the intellectual coefficient in population from 15 to 25 years, research with which they obtained the graduate degree in Nursing and Obstetrics and their article was published in a recognized magazine of International Life Sciences.

With this study, they are the first students to obtain the degree in nursing in the Tierra Blanca headquarters where, it is noteworthy, both had a remarkable trajectory during their formation, as well as outstanding results in their graduation exam, the EGEL-CENEVAL.

From the research carried out by the students, a scientific article emerged that was accepted for publication in the "International Journal of Current Research in Life Sciences".

It is worth mentioning that the research obtained the first place as presentation in poster modality in the 2nd Multidisciplinary Symposium "Integral Health Care" that was carried out in the facilities of the CINUG.

Their thesis was directed by the MCE. Jorge Emmanuel Mejía Benavides and under the direction of Dr. Gloria Vega Argote, current director of the Department of Nursing and Obstetrics.

This event is of great importance for the CINUG and for the nursing and obstetrics program, because it motivates the students to be interested in investigating the subjects that afflict the society of the northeastern part of the state.
