León, Gto., February 8, 2019.- The Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) invites to the XII Diploma of History and Philosophy of Medicine to be held from February 20 to November 20 of this year at the venue “20 de Enero”, formerly known as the Faculty of Medicine in colonia Obregón.

The goal of the diploma is that from a multidisciplinary perspective, the participants know the origin, development evolution and philosophy of medicine in each of the historical stages of humanity, as well as the main contributions to this science of the different cultures that have existed, without leaving aside the ethical, religious, technological, social and economic complexity inherent in the performance of medicine.

Dr. Eréndira Güemez Sandoval, Diploma Coordinator commented in an interview that "the main objective is to make known this important history and trajectory that has had the medicine for many years, from the prehistory to the present time".

She explained that it will address important aspects of the topic, through primitive medicine, Greek medicine, Roman, Arabic, among others, in addition to the history of internal medicine, nursing, as well as the contributions of researchers awarded the award Nobel of Medicine.

She highlighted the participation of those who will oversee the diploma sessions, among which are medical specialists with extensive professional experience and experts in the field of health and teaching.

She noted that for this edition there will be no registration fee for students who present their current credential and for the general public will be $3,000 MXN.

This educational program is aimed at physicians, students and the general public interested in the subject, who must attend the scheduled dates from 16:00 to 20:15 hours at the headquarters located on 20 de Enero #929, Colonia Obregón in the city of León Guanajuato.

The twelfth edition of the diploma consists of a total of 130 hours, of which 118 are theoretical and 12 correspond to visits to the old hospital of San Juan de Dios, former Juarez Hospital, Barrio Arriba, Historical Center and Cultural Forum Guanajuato.

As part of the diploma activities are scheduled visits to the former Juarez hospital, the temple of San Juan de Dios, where was the first hospital in the city, the historic center of León and finally the Cultural Forum Guanajuato.
