León, Gto., February 7, 2019.- Students of culture and art of the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León carried out on its own initiative the International Colloquium of Cinematographic Management, which aims to open a space for communication and comparison between European and Mexican cinematography management, as a tool for their professional training.

On behalf of the organizing committee Mireya Shantal González del Castillo Cisneros said that this event arose from the opportunity to meet David Bravo who is Director of Esperanza distribution, an organization dedicated to support the directors of short films, documentaries and animations for the dissemination of their works, Bravo was an intermediary to link them with Lluís Valenti, Director of the Girona International Film Festival who agreed to visit León and share his experience with the university community.

He concluded by commenting that the student community is planning to form a group dedicated to organizing academic and cultural events that have an active participation among all UG members.

The organizing committee composed of the students Carolina Moreno Vidallana, Lizeth Ruíz Aguilar and Mireya Shantal González del Castillo Cisneros since the year 2018 planned in detail the activities of the Colloquium coordinated by Dr. Carlota Meneses Sánchez, professor-researcher at the Department of Cultural Studies at the Campus León.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by university authorities headed by Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus León; Dr. José de Jesús Bernal Alvarado, Academic Secretary of Campus León; José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director Student Development; from the División de Social Sciences and Humanities attended Dr. Alex Ricardo Caldera Ortega, Director of the División and Dra. Carlota Meneses Sánchez, an important support for the students who organized the event.

Among the attendees were students of culture and art of the campus León, as well as other degrees such as digital arts, performing arts, visual arts, music and design of campus Irapuato-Salamanca and Guanajuato.

After the inauguration gave way to the talk given by Monserrat Alejandri Oyanguren, coordinator of UG's Movie Club, during her speech, shared with the public the experience gained over ten years in which she has served as coordinator, highlighted the presence of major festivals such as the Manhattan Short Film Festival, Cinema Nueva Era, National Film Archive, Wandering, collective SerES A.C., IMCINE and Kinolife.

In addition, lectures were provided by Lluís Valenti on the International Film Festival of Girona, Martín González Licano who talked about the international Festival of Independent film of Pozoa and three young creators: Claudio Moreno Bautista, Aranza Noel Díaz Arias and Ludy Patlán Fernandez who are in charge of the 12 x 12 short film show. At the end there was a panel discussion among the experts led by Gabriel Hörner García.
