Guanajuato, Gto., February 1, 2019.- With the hostess of the University of Guanajuato, from September 25–27, 2019 will take place in the city of Guanajuato, the 15th International Congress of Literature: Memory and imagination of Latin America and the Caribbean (by the paths of orality and writing).

This is a wandering congress that this time will be held at the central headquarters of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of UG's Campus Guanajuato and that each year gathers about 150 speakers from all continents. As international organizers are the CIALC (Center for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean) and UNAM.

By Initiative and proposal of Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Piña and Dr. Andreas Kurz, the University of Guanajuato, through its department of Hispanic Literature, was selected as the venue for the 15th edition of this internationally prestigious academic event.

Currently, the President of the International Organizing Committee is Dr. Carlos Huamán (UNAM). The local organization will be overseen by the Department of Hispanic Letters of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of UG's Campus Guanajuato.

The papers revolve around a broad range of topics related to Hispanic-American literature and culture of the nineteenth, twentieth and 21st centuries. The organization of the homages to Amado Nervo is planned for its 100th death anniversary and the writer Fernando del Paso, who passed away last year.

Lectures will be given by doctors Gustavo Jiménez Aguirre (UNAM) and László Scholz (University of Budapest, Hungary).

The congress will be able to present and discuss relevant results and projects in the area of literary and cultural studies on Latin America and the Caribbean, with special emphasis on the studies on orality and the construction of individual and collective memory through literature.

The call to present papers is open since January and will close in June. The results of the selection process will be announced in July.
