Guanajuato, Gto., February 19, 2019.- Professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG) attended an academic Congress in Nayarit, where important Mexican and foreign researchers discussed the main challenges and opportunity spaces in the area of Process Systems Engineering.

This Is Dr. Juan Gabriel Segovia Hernández, Dr. Ricardo Morales Rodríguez, Dr. Fernando Israel Gómez Castro and Dr. Eduardo Sánchez Ramírez, all of them from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) Campus Guanajuato de La UG.

They Attended the "2nd Process System Engineering – State of the Art Workshop", an academic event organized jointly by professors of the Autonomous Metropolitan University, the University of the Americas Puebla, the University of Guanajuato, as well as members of the Mexican Academy of Research and Teaching in Chemical Engineering (AMIDIQ) and PES company for SPEED.

This meeting took place from January 27th to 30th of this year in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit; And the same was attended by important Mexican researchers, including Dr. Arturo Jiménez Gutiérrez of the Technological Institute of Celaya; Doctors Mauricio Sales Cruz, Tomás Viveros García and Eduardo Pérez Cisneros of the Autonomous Metropolitan University; and Dr. José María Ponce Ortega from the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo.

They Also participated in the meeting of international leaders in the area, such as Prof. Rafiqul Gani (CEO of PSE for SPEED), Prof. Stratos Pistikopoulos of the University of Texas A&M, Prof. Zdravko Kravanja of the University of Maribor, Slovenia, Prof. Mariano Martín of the University of Salamanca, Spain; Prof. Oscar Andrés Prado Rubio of the National University of Colombia, among others.

Among The main topics that were developed in the event, highlights the role of Process Systems Engineering in the development of the Circular Economy, the importance of the development of modern tools for Process Systems Engineering, and the Application of the knowledge of the area for the development of the biofuels industry, the capture of carbon dioxide and the implementation of strategies to reduce the problem of water scarcity.
