León, Gto., March 11, 2019.- Karla Sofía Barba Gómez, Adrián Martínez Gutiérrez and Josué Flores Rodríguez, students of the degree in political science and public administration of the University of Guanajuato (UG) León Campus, are part of the "Leonese team" that was the creditor to the first place of the Rally "Data in the street" in which they served as national comptrollers to document 15 public works made with federal budget.

The rally "data on the street" was organized by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), as well as by international organizations such as SocialTIC, Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency and transparency budget, with the aim of promoting the Concept of Open data and convert participants into social comptrollers of public works.

The three students of the Campus León de la UG documented with videos, photographs and information from the transparency budget portal a total of 15 public works made with federal budget in the municipality of León and in their capacity as citizens' comptrollers they were able to revise the conditions in which the public works were delivered, the stages in which they are located, the total amount that has been allocated to each one of them, in addition to knowing their social impact.

Between February 12th and 27th, they carried out a tour of works such as the Bicentennial Expressway, paving of the side rails of the Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard, in the access to the streets of the Mexican Presidents Colony, the rehabilitation of public space in the Colonia Villas de Santa Julia, the conclusion of the second Street Jerez de Morsa in the Colonia Valle de Jerez among others.

Their research and findings were transmitted on social networks where he shared his experience as social comptrollers and their review of government work. In this exercise they were able to interact directly with the citizens benefited by the works, to know their points of view and to see the current conditions of each one of them.

Josué Flores commented in an interview that the public works that were reviewed, "most of them are already finished (...) What we detect is that the money that is being invested-federal resource-is being allocated in processes, i.e. as the work progresses is as the resource is being allocated."

For his part, Adrián Martínez pointed out how important it is "to follow up the public resource run by the state, municipal or federal government" and "begin to generate these dynamics to bring the citizens closer to the issues that have to do with the government and that are of public interest."

Finally, Karla Sofía Barba expressed his gratitude to members of the Comptroller of the City of León for the support and invitation to participate in the call for a total of 65 young people from 30 states in the country.
