Quito, Ecuador, March 11, 2019.- High School students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) obtained the first and third place in the XIII Latin American contest of student projects in science and technology, INFOMATRIX South America Ecuador 2019, held in the city of Quito, Ecuador.

The students Emilia Arévalo Arredondo and Luciana Hernández Barrera, of the Guanajuato HS, obtained the first place and Platinum Medal, with the project "Experimental Anatomy", being advised by Dr. Claudia Erika Morales Hernández, professor-researcher at the same school.

Also, the students of the Salvatierra HS, Hannia Yatzil Ramírez Gutiérrez, Ziania Yairet Guzmán González and Julia Paula Serrato Fuentes, obtained third place and bronze medal with the project "Painting Science", advised by the Mtro. Guillermo Caballero Tinajero.

The students obtained the pass last October at the state stage of Expo Sciences held at UG's Salvatierra HS, where they managed to represent the state and the country in this competition.

The competition is organized by the Latin American Society of Applied Science and Technology (SOLACYT) in coordination with the International Informatics Project Competition (INFOMATRIX) and the Ibero-American Science organization.

Infomatrix is a competition that consists in developing a project from any point of view scientific, technological or social under a very personal approach, exhorting the use of creativity and technical skill. The category in which the students participated was the scientific divulgation.

During these months the high school students of Guanajuato and Salvatierra were preparing the project to present it in the South American fair, so after hard work and effort they obtained an outstanding participation raising the state and UG high.

They competed with teams from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Ecuador and Mexico, among others; With excellent quality, enthusiasm and passion, the UG teams shone.

For the young women participating in this international event was an unforgettable experience and the results obtained are the result of the effort and dedication of the months of preparation, thanked the support provided by their advisors, their directors and the authorities without forgetting the unconditional support of their families.

With these results, the University of Guanajuato consolidates its presence in the international field thanks to the solidity of the integral formation of its student community.
