
Guanajuato, Gto., March 8, 2019.- The Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Pharmaceutical Education, A.C. (COMAEF) recognized the quality of the degree in pharmaceutical chemist biologist offered by the University of Guanajuato (UG), certification that will be valid until November 2023.
At the ceremony where the certificate of reaccreditation was given to the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that this act shows the commitment of the university with the quality, since it allows to legitimize the university to the society to which it is owed.
Therefore, he argued that the institution assumes the human right to ensure access to an education with quality and relevance, "for the good of the person and for the collective good." He also welcomed this achievement and commended the community that made it possible, while pledging support to maintain and elevate the educational programme's indicators of excellence.
The rector of the Guanajuato Campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera, said that this act constitutes a formal and public recognition that grants an external entity -the COMAEF-, an organism that certified that the degree in pharmaceutical chemist biologist complies with the criteria, indicators and quality parameters that are demanded.
She recalled that this educational program has been recognized on three consecutive occasions, in the years 2006, 2012 and this one, which takes effect from November 2018 to 2023.
In his welcome message, the Director of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE), Dr. Agustín Ramón Uribe Ramírez, emphasized that this recognition of quality is a source of pride and satisfaction, and said that it benefits mainly students, they are guaranteed to receive an integral and quality training.
He also mentioned that the bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical chemist biologist is one of the oldest in UG and one of the first in the country to obtain quality accreditation and assured that they will continue to work until one hundred percent of the DCNE programs reach the standards of excellence.
The president of the COMAEF, Dr. José Luis A. Mora Guevara, congratulated those who made this accreditation possible and celebrated the strengths of the Q.F.B. degree in, however, clarified that the certification also undertakes to work in the areas of improvement, and it was said sure that this will be done in the UG.
The event gave recognition to the staff who participated in the reaccreditation process, among them, the coordinator of the educational program Q.F.B., Dr. Claudia Leticia Mendoza Macías; The director of the pharmacy department, Dr. Martha Alicia Deveze Álvarez; The academic secretary of the DCNE, Q.F.B. Alfonso Trujillo Valdivia; Dr. Gustavo Cruz Jiménez, Dra. Yolanda Alcaraz Contreras and Dr. Clara Alba Betancourt.
At the event were present unipersonal authorities of the UG, academic staff, administrative and representatives of the student community.
