Guanajuato, Gto., April 30, 2019.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) held the twelfth position in the 2019 ranking of the America Economy Media Group, a private organization that is dedicated to communication through the magazine American Economy, specializing in business issues, education, economics and Finance in Latin America, as well as by electronic means, offering a robust online information platform.

The above represents an improvement relative to the ranking 2018, where it had been in the thirteenth place.

For the realization of the aforementioned ranking are taken into account a series of dimensions of analysis, which integrate a quality index, which, for the University of Guanajuato recorded an advance of 4.9 points in the last edition of the ranking, positioning in 57.8 in the year 2019 (for the year 2018 the observed value for the index was 52.9).

The dimensions of the analysis in which the University of Guanajuato had a strong improvement were, the research index with an increase of 17.4 points, the index of offer of postgraduate, which increased 4.7 points, and the index of internationalization with a Increase of 3.9 points. In addition, it is important to note that the indexes of prestige, accreditation and teaching quality, also recorded an advance (2, 1.5 and 0.4 points, respectively).

The index in which an area of opportunity is detected is that of inclusion and diversity, in which the UG is carrying out the corresponding efforts with various programs.

It is important to mention that, within this organization, the division of 'Intelligence' makes relevant rankings in education and business issues in Latin America. The ranking of the best universities in Mexico 2019, published on March 14, 2019, is a document that reflects the product of the research carried out by America Economy in order to make an ordering of the best universities in the country, taking into different variables of the higher education environment.

On the other hand, America Economy also performs regional sub rankings in Mexico, identifying the best universities in the central, northeastern, northwestern, western, southeastern and Mexico City regions. For the 2019 edition of this regional sub ranking, the University of Guanajuato took second place in the western region, where it is classified, only surpassed by the University of Guadalajara.

This regional classification also highlights a dimension of analysis of the universities in which they have highlighted and points to another dimension in which there is an area of improvement. This analysis is done through the calculation of performance gaps, which is to identify the performance of the universities in their different dimensions of study and compared to the average of the 50 universities ranked.

For UG, the analysis of yield gaps in the regional sub ranking, reflects that it has a significant strength in the field of research, with a gap of 4.6 points, while finding an area of opportunity in prestige, with a gap that barely IS--0.6 points, which means it is on the average.

In conclusion, the work of the university community has been reflected in an improvement in its different indicators within educational rankings, as is that of America economy, which in addition to identifying strengths, gives a guideline to focus efforts and programs That broaden the capacities of the institution.
