
Guanajuato, Gto., March 18, 2019.- Two graduates of the degree in nutrition of the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus of the University of Guanajuato, Diana Karen Ramírez and Lorena Gisela Belmont participated in the creation of the electronic book Eat Healthy-Guide for university students available in version English and Portuguese, from the University of Fernando Pessoa in Portugal.
The project arose from an idea of the coordinator of the degree in Nutrition sciences at the University, Dr. Cláudia Sofia de Assunção Gonçalves e Silva, which consisted in the drafting of a food guide for foreign students in Portugal and for the Portuguese who make an international student exchange.
During the exchange of studies through the institutional program of mobility and student exchange semester stays of the Direction of International Relations and academic collaboration of the University of Guanajuato, the graduates were selected to carry out the writing of a part of the eBook that focuses on describing the sustainable options of fresh products according to the season as well as showing the food equivalencies available in the different regions of the world. The mission that was raised for Diana and Lorena was to clarify how a daily consumed food could be substituted when traveling to another region.
The book speaks in its other chapters on the food standards and the characteristics of each food group, contains a guide explaining the Mediterranean diet, gives advice to choose foods delving into what is the best way to cook, manipulate and to preserve the different ingredients as well as the hygienic conditions that they require. Recommendations for the correct interpretation of the labelling are also included.
It is important to mention that Dr. Cláudia Gonçalves e Silva has participated in 43 collaborations in co-authorship of scientific work, 7 articles in specialized journals, and 42 items of technical production. The main theme of their scientific production is the studies on childhood obesity. In addition to coordinating the program, Dr. Cláudia Silva imparts in the same course "research project".
