Guanajuato, Gto., March 20, 2019.- During the presentation of the annual report of activities, it was emphasized that the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG) has become spearhead in the development of services and technological solutions for different productive sectors, with projects like the internet of the future and the internet of things.

At the event, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, expressed his appreciation to the Rector of the Campus, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz and congratulated a community that has distinguished for its academic excellence, for its work of linkage with the social, productive, public and other educational institutions.

It also highlighted that this Campus has 4 locations and its academic contribution has a presence in 6 cities. "We are here to reaffirm our commitment to each Campus, from a collaborative project where all the parties have a relevant role in building a better institution, state and country. As a public university we have a commitment to be at the service of society and to set an example."

In his message, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz emphasized the projects that allow to take advantage of the talent of the university community to attend problems of the environment, like the integral control of the aquatic lily in the lagoon of Yuriria, the modernization of Technology used in the agricultural, livestock and fishing sector, the detection of contaminants in the water and the study of compounds used in traditional medicine, among others.

He also referred to the project HIVE-FI, linked to the internet of the future "which will be a breakthrough for the state of Guanajuato", and the internet of things, for which a laboratory is contemplated with the appropriate infrastructure and equipment for researchers and Students implement technologies of Industry 4.0 focused on the energy sector.

He also highlighted the creation of the new Software Development Laboratory, a space where students and professors lead software and hardware projects related to mobile applications, web systems and the development of various scientific prototypes.

On behalf of the academic staff, Dr. Igor Guryev, who pointed out that the participation of professors and students in binding projects, "is a clear example of how, together, we play a decisive role in the development of a country."

Therefore, he invited his colleagues to reflect on the responsibility of contributing to the human, scientific and technological development of Guanajuato and Mexico.

The student Rubí Anabella Ayón Sicaeros spoke of the importance of having a good mentor to get the potential of the student community afloat, so she expressed her gratitude to the teachers who challenge them and motivate them to do their best.

She also urged his colleagues to take advantage of the opportunity to collaborate with national investigators, to seek inclusion in the various projects for the training of young scientists and to join the strategic agenda of linkage of the University of Guanajuato.

The event, which took place at the Yuriria headquarters, was attended by one-person authorities, members of the management team, representatives of collegiate bodies and the university community.
