León, Gto., March 21, 2019.- With an investment of 35.2 million pesos of state and federal contributions, through the Multiple Contribution Fund (FAM), the University of Guanajuato (UG) launched the specialized unit in physical rehabilitation that will benefit the community University and society in general.

The unit, located at San Carlos Headquarters, offers specialty consultation in rehabilitation medicine, medical diagnosis specializing in movement and gait disorders; Physical therapy or physiotherapy sessions, among other services with a high level of competitiveness.

The physical rehabilitation unit that is part of the health cluster formed by the Regional High specialty Hospital of the Bajío and the Regional Hospital of León was inaugurated by university authorities with the intention of starting to offer Their services. It has avant-garde equipment electrotherapy, thermotherapy and cryotherapy, therapeutic tank with jets and swim countercurrent; High-powered laser, motion reeducation therapy and neuromuscular therapy with biofeedback.

This unit will also benefit students of the degree in physical therapy and rehabilitation of the University of Guanajuato who will be able to perform their professional Social service and carry out practices, under the supervision of the specialized personnel. It will also benefit the practices of nursing and biomedical engineering students and is a space for developing research projects.

At the inauguration ceremony, the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino signed collaboration agreements with representatives of the institutions: Food and walk, the Guanajuato Institute for People with Disability (INGUDIS) and pediatric Hospital in order to make the most of the unit specializing in physical rehabilitation.

Dr. Guerrero Agripino mentioned that the inauguration of the Unit is "related to the mission and vocation of a public university.
