
-President of the University of Guanajuato remarks the progresses and challenges of the campuses at 10 years of their creation
Celaya, Gto., March 28, 2019.- At the venue Juan Pablo II, Dr. Graciela de la Luz Ruiz Aguilar, Rector of Celaya-Salvatierra Campus, presented the work report corresponding to 2018, highlighting the strength of the community relies on its members, who provide talent, leadership and social commitment.
The President of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, expressed on his participation, the recognition and gratitude to who have made possible the growth on Celaya-Salvatierra Campus, and spoke about the ten years of work on UG's campuses.
"We are 10 years from the existence of university campuses, because although the reform process started in 2008, the campuses began its validity in the year 2009, and it is worth asking what has happened in those 10 years?, to make an assessment as objective as possible; the university reform that makes possible the constitution of the Campus, was made thinking -above all- in greater regional presence of the university, and was made thinking, precisely in the diversity of each region and in the great potential that we had already in the year 2008 and what has It happened particularly in the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus which is represented with the reporting year, but with all ten years as a whole," he said.
The President coincided with Dr. Ruiz Aguilar on the challenges she mentioned and endorsed the support of the university authorities and the community of the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus. At the same time, he congratulated and thanked the Rector for her work.
In her message, the rector of the Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Dr. Graciela de la Luz Ruiz Aguilar, said that the advances and achievements during 2018 constitute a reflection of the joint work of the university community of the Campus: executives, professors, students, and service staff, to what he added "today we realize our achievements, not in a tone of vainglory, we take the fulfillment of this responsibility, as an occasion to make a recognition to all, of what contributed to report of the progress and results that we present today, and that we put to your consideration for the analysis."
Among the achievements to be emphasized in the period 2018, she highlights the delivery of 3063 scholarships to equal number of students; tripled the number of graduate students (287); 44 students received special recognition for their high performance in the EGEL-CENEVAL test; The Mexican Council for Nursing accreditation certified Campus Nurses.
She also emphasizes the growth in the educational offer, since 61.5% of the educational programs have the accreditation of quality by certifying organisms. In addition, it currently has 42 professors in the national system of researchers and 79 professors with PRODEP profile.
Regarding the quality of teachers, 14 teachers of the Celaya-Salvatierra Campus are part of PRODEP, as well as 14 professors to the national system of researchers.
The ceremony began with the participation of the student of the Division of Social and Administrative Sciences (DCSA), María del Carmen Piña Cuna of the degree in Regional development, representing the student community, who spoke about the needs that students face in the academic, cultural and social fields, as well as by the students' sense of belonging and being rooted in UG.
In his speech, Dr. Hiram Arroyo Chavez, academic of the Department of Agro-Industrial Engineering, Division of Health Sciences and Engineering (DCSI), spoke on behalf of the professors of the Campus, and emphasized the contribution that academics make by giving response to the needs of your environment
The ceremony was also attended by UG, the Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa; The Secretary of Management and Development, Mtro. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo; The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Q.F.B. Sergio Jesús Ortega Mereles; Rectors of Campus and their representatives and the Director of the high school college, Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona, among other unipersonal authorities and representatives of the collegiate bodies of the House of Studies, as well as professors, students, groups organized by students and administrative staff of the institution.
As special guests were the mayors and authorities of the municipalities of Celaya, Salvatierra, Cortazar and Villagrán.
