
Guanajuato, Gto., March 27, 2019.- The day of UG Inventor was held, an event in which researchers from the House of Studies received the registration of six national patents, an international patent (in co-owner) and a utility model, positioning the institution in the Eighth position at the national level within the universities with the most patents.
At the ceremony the Secretary of Management and Development of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo, representative of the President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino recalled that the institution has 175 records of industrial property, of which 14 are international.
He emphasized that since 2018 La UG is recognized as a patenting center and Office of Technology transfer by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).
This is a sample of the work that is done in favor of the society, said Dr. Romero Hidalgo, who congratulated the inventors and said that the UG is ready to take on new challenges in the field of technological innovation. On this occasion, awards were awarded for eight inventions developed during the 2018 in areas such as the environment, health and the food industry.
Previously, the General coordinator of the ecosystem of liaison, innovation, development and application of knowledge (VIDA UG), Dr. Jesús Martínez Patiño, explained that the celebration of the day of the Inventor is intended to recognize the innovative academic and student talent.
He mentioned that since 1992 is promoted the culture of protection among the university community, for which it is worked in a coordinated way inside the house of studies, since it involves areas like the direction of support to the research and the postgraduate, the Office of the Attorney General and the VIDA UG ecosystem, as well as links with external bodies, such as the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
In addition, in order to facilitate the dissemination of the work that develops, it announced that an electronic booklet containing the description of the inventions is available, which is available on the site http://www.ugto.mx/vidaug/diainventorug
For its part, the head of the Regional office of IMPI, Lic. Alejandro Raúl Salas Domínguez, highlighted the work done by the University of Guanajuato to promote an industrial property culture and invited academics to take advantage of the opportunities that Institution offers, as well as the technical accompaniment of the dependency to his charge.
He referred to the important work done by institutions of higher education and research centers and emphasized that at the national level the UG has positioned itself as one of the 10 universities that most applications apply.
The Secretary of Innovation, science and higher education, Eng. Eusebio Vega Pérez, revealed that the state of Guanajuato occupies the third national place in obtaining patents and recognized the important contribution of the University of Guanajuato on this topic. Because of this, he said that they will continue working as a team and looking for new ways of collaborating with the House of Studies.
At the ceremony to recognize the inventors UG were present authorities of the four university campuses and the High School College, as well as representatives of the university community and relatives of the honorees.
