Celaya, Gto. March 26, 2019. With the installation of the work tables "Women, culture, education and health"; "Gender and development"; and "Violence and femicides", began the first colloquium of research work in gender studies, feminisms and women, at the venue El Mayorazgo of the Campus Celaya-Salvatierra.
The dynamics of work was developed from the presentation of the information that have obtained university students from all the campuses and of different degrees, as well as of educational institutions invited, that like the University of Guanajuato have strongly promoted gender and equality studies.
The students and researchers showed the progress that has been made in this area thanks to the persistence and insistence of civil society organizations and academia.
In that sense, Dr. Graciela Ma. De la Luz Ruiz Aguilar, rector of the Campus, when welcoming stressed the importance of seeking and generating spaces of trust within the university for men and women that allow them to develop fully and freely.
She remarked the importance of changes to internal regulations and the impetus to the UGénero institutional program, in order to promote the construction of environments of respect in equality, as well as the contribution that may arise from the work of teachers and young researchers.
To continue this work, the Rector proposed to Lic. Lourdes Elena Gazol Patiño, coordinator of the institutional program of gender equality, to look for joint strategies to get the knowledge product of the research to a greater number of people and give continuity to the effort that is deployed in this first colloquium.
There were 24 research papers that were presented and through them the students knew statistical data on femicides, impunity, violence and others that are part of this social network that has men and women struggling for recognition of their rights and equal opportunities.
