Guanajuato, Gto., April 1, 2019.- A group of students from the division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), formed the group "young scientists and scientific readers", which was born from an idea of Joseph Israel Almendarez Scum, student of the degree in chemical engineering.
The objective of the group is to share the love of reading, knowledge and science among the students of the DCNE, but also to carry out work of orientation and promotion to the reading, especially among the girls and children of communities in Guanajuato.
From the attainment of funds granted by the Institute of Guanajuato Youth, the purchase of books was achieved in order to carry out activities of promotion to the reading, to take the program to schools of basic level.
In this regard, the student José Israel Almendarez mentioned in an interview that "arises from a contest held by the State Institute of Youth, and we won to get books and bring them to a community, the community we get is Santa Rosa, and the school is Miguel Hidalgo And it comes from our taste for reading and wanting to share this experience with boys and girls."
The students of the UG began this project at the Miguel Hidalgo Elementary School in the community of Santa Rosa, belonging to the municipality of Guanajuato, where they were able to share the reading of books like 'Pedro Páramo' and 'El Llano en llamas' by Juan Rulfo , as well as works by Oscar Wilde and Herman Hesse.
Other students of the DCNE joined Israel's initiative, as Agueda Constanza Villarreal Hernández; Santiago de Jesús González Carranco; Ariana Lizbeth Hernández Montes; Ricardo Alejandro Ontiveros Muñoz; Maira Ramírez Mendiola; Héctor Jonathan Salazar Morales, as well asDaisy Alejandra Baltazar Campos, of the degree in nursing assistant of the DCS venue Guanajuato & Ana Mendoza García, graduate from degree in industrial relations of the Division of Economic and Administrative Sciences (DCEA).
Dr. Francisco Javier Álvarez Torres, professor-researcher of the DCNE, is the tutor of these students and students, and who helps them to manage the support of the UG and other instances to materialize the visits to the schools and communities that they intend to continue visiting. In this regard, the scholar considered in an interview that "the project certainly represents one of the core parts of the educational process: that the student is the center of the process; Both professor and administrative level in the management, I was simply an accompanying figure; The intellectual uneasiness of Israel and the young people, it was in this sense, to want to share and to take the reading and thanks to that impulse, in my work as a teacher, was to generate the conditions for this to be given."
