Guanajuato, Gto., April 4, 2019.- In the multi-use esplanade of the Valenciana venue of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Guanajuato (UG), was carried out the constancy of accreditation of the degree in mathematics by the President of the Board of Accreditation of educational programs in mathematics (CAPEM).
At the event, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, President of the University of Guanajuato, stated that "it was CIMAT who academically conceived the beginning of this program and until now we have ties of collaboration, so it is so that graduates Precisely from the first generations, professors of CIMAT, they were forming successive generations, and that represents a essence of quality; In turn, there are two elements to highlight, the most important thing is the quality of their students and the quality of their academic plant."
In his message and delivery of proof of accreditation, Dr. María Esperanza Guzmán Ovando, national president of CAPEM, said that "the board of accreditation of educational programs in mathematics is an organism recognized by the council for the accreditation of the Higher education, COPAES, since December 2015. In our country, COPAES is the only authorized authority to grant recognition to accrediting bodies; accreditation of undergraduate education programmes is a means to recognize and ensure the quality of higher education; At CAPEM we are focused on undergraduate programs in mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical engineering and areas for purposes; Accreditation is based on evaluation."
For his part, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera, rector of the Guanajuato Campus, shared in his message that "the English mathematician, Sir James Joseph Sylvester said that mathematics is the music of reason, hence it is so important for our Campus and for our institution to strengthen the development of such a fundamental discipline and a way of doing it is accreditation, as a process of continuous improvement which not only endorse the leadership of the great academic community of this Department of Mathematics and the Division of Natural and Exact sciences, but it is also the means of rendering good accounts to the society to which we owe ourselves."
The event also included the presence of the directors and principals of the various departments and academic programs of the Division of Natural and Exact sciences of the Guanajuato Campus.
The professors who participated in the accreditation process of the academic program of degree in mathematics before the Council of Accreditation of Educational programs in mathematics (CAPEM) were Dr. Claudia Estela Reynoso Alcántara (coordinator), Dr. Nadia Romero Romero, Dr. Antonio Murillo Salas, Dr. Carlos Valero Valdés, Dr. Fernando Núñez Medina, Dr. Ehyter Matías Martín González and Dr. Herbert Kanarek Blando.
In the act were also present Dr. Agustín Ramón Uribe Ramírez, Director of the Division of Natural and Exact sciences; Q.F.B. Alfonso Trujillo Valdivia, Academic Secretary of the Division of Natural and Exact sciences; Dr. Antonio Murillo Salas, Director of the Department of Mathematics; Dr. Herbert Kanarek Blando, Coordinator of the educational program of the degree in Mathematics and Dr. Daniel Hernández Hernández, Academic Coordinator of CIMAT representing Dr. Víctor Manuel Rivero Mercado, General Director of CIMAT.
