Guanajuato, Gto., April 5, 2019.- It was in the year of 1969 when it began a fruitful relationship of academic and cultural collaboration between the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the Southern Oregon University (SOU) which has positively impacted the academic and personal life of hundreds of teachers and students from both study houses.

As part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of this brotherhood, will be held meetings of students, alumni, professors and university managers in order to appreciate the achievements and design new forms of linkage Interinstitutional.

The second week of April, a university delegation, headed by the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino will be received by the Southern Oregon University (SOU); In this regard, the President of SOU, Linda Schott mentioned the following to the American newspaper SOU News: "I hope we will see this 50th anniversary as a benchmark in which we can pause and reevaluate before we continue our journey together."

Among the activities that will be carried out in this visit is the signing of the memorandum of Understanding between SOU and UG, a seminar of best practices in the field of strategic planning and a concert in which will be performed commissioned works of the professors of the Oregon Center of Arts together with a composition of Dr. Francisco Javier González Compeán, current Director of the Division of Architecture, Art and design of the University of Guanajuato.

It should be mentioned that the program of activities also includes opportunities for professional development for the professors of SOU and members of the delegation of the University of Guanajuato, especially in topics of transformation of the pedagogy that require the present times.

It should be noted that, to correspond the attentions received, the University of Guanajuato will receive the delegation of SOU May from 27 to 31 and has already designed a program of activities to commemorate a friendship that has lasted through 50 years.
