mexicanasGuanajuato, Gto., April 12, 2019.- Nathalia del Carmen Jasso Vera, a student at the Centro Histórico León High School, earned an honorable mention at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad held in Kiev, Ukraine.

Ana Paula Jiménez Díaz, originally from Mexico City, conquered the gold medal in the Olympics that brought together 200 competitors from 49 countries. Nuria Sydykova Méndez, from Mexico City, and for Karla Rebeca Munguía Romero, from Sinaloa, also members of the Mexican team obtained silver medals.

Nathalia is a student of the fourth semester of the Bivalent Baccalaureate and in addition to participating in mathematics competitions, she has held international stays in France and Canada; In addition, she won the Municipal Youth Prize, which makes this young woman a pride for the state, the university and the country.

She was pre-selected in December after obtaining an outstanding participation in the National Olympics; In addition, she has obtained silver and bronze medals in the previous two editions.

It is important to mention that the preparation of Nathalia and 3 companions of the Mexican team involved 5 months of training in the Center for Research in Mathematics (CIMAT) which included training in new subjects and exams of 4 hours and a half for the resolution of three problems.

In this way, the University of Guanajuato confirms its commitment to the integral formation of its student community and maintains its responsibility with the granting of tools that allow them to stand out at national and international level.
