
Mérida, Yuc., May 9, 2019.- Martina Monserrat Soto Bustamante and Andrea Cruz Barbosa, students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) were winners of the silver medal in the specialty of women's doubles in badminton at the XXII Universiade Nacional held in Merida, Yucatán del 30 From April to May 17th, having as headquarters the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY).
Martina Monserrat Soto Bustamante, student of the degree in physical Activity and Health Sciences of the Division of Health Sciences (DCS) of the León Campus de la UG, and Andrea Cruz Barbosa, student of the degree in interior design of the Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD) of the Guanajuato Campus, make up the team 'Bees UG' in women's doubles of badminton, which faced representatives of the National Autonomous University, Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí. Their coach is professor Bernardo Monreal Pacheco.
As well, it is noteworthy that Martina Monserrat Soto Bustamante obtained bronze medal in the women's singles category in badminton, getting her place on the podium when facing the representative of the Technological Institute of Higher Studies Campus San Luis Potosí.
The XXII Universiade Nacional is being held from April 30 to May 17, where sportsmen from all over the Republic participate in various disciplines such as: Aerobic gymnastics, weightlifting, amateur boxing, softball, volleyball, judo, fencing, bow and arrow, rugby, chess, tennis, etc.
Universities across the country sent their representative teams in each of these disciplines, who are facing their peers hoping to achieve some position in the medal table.
The University of Guanajuato (UG) obtains outstanding results in the National Universiade, which represents an important factor for students to complement their comprehensive training through healthy competition in sport.
