cervantesGuanajuato, Gto., May 8, 2019.- As "Honorary Research Fellow" at the University of Manchester, Dr. Natalia Cervantes is performing at the University of Guanajuato, a national postdoctoral stay under the tutelage of Dr. Brigitte Lamy, program coordinator of the interinstitutional doctorate in architecture at the Division of Architecture Art and Design (DAAD) of the Guanajuato Campus.

In an interview, Dr. Cervantes explained that in this stay critically explored city paradigms and how they translate into reality, looking particularly participatory planning as a new way of doing city.

She graduated from Lic. In architecture from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, and studied her master's and doctorate degree at the University of Manchester; Doctorate completed in 2018 with issues of urban planning and perceptions of violence and insecurity; Therefore decided to undertake the national postdoctoral stay, which is a program of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) in which the intention is to develop a research a one year project, with possibilities of extending it to two years.

She considered that it is an aid for the one who recently completed his doctorate, to be inserted in the academic field and hence to leave, to allow them a year of work and to approach the academy in institutions such as UG; And if the study was abroad, it gives the opportunity to go back to the national.

As for her relationship with Dr. Lamy, she revealed that they were linked through the second supervisor of her thesis, Dr. Melanie Lombart, who put her in contact because there was in this university the possibility of a year of research.

The commitments, among others, are participation in seminars, the elaboration of the research project that requires field work, publication of articles and hours in front of a group; And his research topic is: "City paradigms and participatory planning for the development of cities", which is a study of participatory planning in Aguascalientes, Jalisco and Guanajuato capital.

He explained that the field work in Guanajuato has to do with participatory planning and how it is carried out, for the development of the historical Center in the year 2012 and 2015, to develop a plan and the resolution of the problems detected.
