
Guanajuato, Gto., May 6, 2019.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) will benefit from a federal resource of 60 million pesos, which will be invested in the multidisciplinary building of the Division of Engineering of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus (MEDICI), as part of the new Mexican school program for the state of Guanajuato.
The foregoing was announced during a ceremony that revealed the amount of federal investment in educational infrastructure for Guanajuato, which amounts to more than 508 million pesos and will be applied in 80 campuses of the entity, of which one is from the University of Guanajuato.
In this regard, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that this represents a greater commitment to the university, while thanking the permanent support of the state and federal government to the university.
He recalled that the multidisciplinary building project at Salamanca headquarters began with 13 million pesos, with support from the state government the new investment will allow to build six other classrooms, four work areas for teachers and spaces as general access and modules for sanitary services. In addition, in the first level they build 11 additional classrooms, two laboratory areas, a computer center and other utilitarian spaces.
Dr. Guerrero Agripino highlighted that this allows to raise the possibility of growing 25 percent in tuition in DICIS and said they will continue to manage another 200 million pesos, which would increase in another similar figure.
In addition to the foregoing, he emphasized the social impact of the academic work carried out in the engineering division of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, which is reflected in issues such as intelligent energy management, waste management, cybersecurity, education 4.0 , medicine 4.0, development of the agri-food sector, intelligent constructions and optimization of natural resources and connectivity.
At the event, the General Director of the National Institute of Educational Physical Infrastructure (INIFED), Eng. Jorge Jiménez Alcaraz stressed the importance of investing in education, as well as the amounts contemplated in the new Mexican school program for the state of Guanajuato.
In addition to the 60 MPD to be allocated to building A at DICIS, 293,753,960 pesos were announced for 60 basic level campuses; and 154,329,000 pesos for 19 high-level campuses.
For his part, the governor of the state of Guanajuato, Lic. Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo thanked the support of the federal government and said they will continue to join efforts towards education. He also pointed out that they will seek ways to provide more financial resources for the projects of the University of Guanajuato.
The Municipal president of León, Lic. Héctor López Santillana, welcomed the attendees, including officials from the three levels of government, local and federal legislators, as well as managers and representatives of the University of Guanajuato and other educational institutions.
It is important to note that the University of Guanajuato has received technical support from Eng. Pedro Peredo Medina, General Director of the Institute of Educational Physical Infrastructure of Guanajuato (INIFEG).
