
Guanajuato, Gto., May 6, 2019.- The Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD) of the Guanajuato Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), will promote a series of cultural projects throughout May, which have been called "Month of the Arts", in which activities are deployed in the disciplines of Music, visual arts and performing arts.
At the press conference, Dr. Francisco Javier González Compean, Director of the DAAD, reported that the activities began in fact last week, with a piano and clarinet concert, as well as with the signing of a comprehensive collaboration agreement with the University of Concepción, Chile; that will benefit the entire University of Guanajuato.
In this tenor, Dr. González Compean expressed a cordial invitation to the university community and to the general population, to participate in the high-quality cultural events that students, teachers and invited artists, will develop all the month and that are free.
This week, the gala concert of the Ensemble of the Center for experimentation and production of contemporary music (CEPROMUSIC) stands out, on Thursday May 09 at the Teatro Juárez, free entrance, which will be, at the same time, the closing of the residence that this important group will do in the Department of Music and Performing arts.
This assembly is directed by the Mtro. José Luis Castillo, who was a few years ago the Director of the OSUG and now directs CEPROMUSIC the 16 interpreters, who will make reading tables with students, play the work of some of them and professors and conclude with the concert on Thursday.
In that order, the DAAD owner recalled that the week of revolt also stands out, in honor of the Master Silvestre Revueltas; while in visual arts, there will be the fifth University meeting of Visual Arts and the contest "Jesús Gallardo", with special emphasis now that the Honoris Causa is no longer physically found.
About the performing arts, he quoted the inaugural function of the ballroom dance workshop and the intensive Ballet of Puntas course, both open to the public on May 21st at the Teatro Principal.
On the other hand, Luis Flores Villagómez, Director of the Department of Music and Performing Arts, explained that in view of the great activity of the department he leads, instead of a cultural week was thought of a month of the arts, in which they propose to encourage students to be participatory in their areas, both of the educational programs of music and performing arts.
As an example he cited the unveiling of plaque by the 100th function of the work "social dramas" that was created to inhibit the violence in a relationship, sponsored by the degree in performing arts and that has been represented in many university venues, but also in state communities.
He also recalled the visit of Manuel Hernández, clarinet soloist of Bellas Artes that on May 21 and 22, in the most generous way will teach a free course of clarinet.
Similarly, he reported that on Wednesday 08 and Friday 10, Sunhae Im, taught two "master Class" for singing students. The Korean teacher will be soloist with the symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) next week but arrived in advance to offer their classes to the university students.
In his opportunity, Lic. Jonathan Josafat González García, academic coordinator of the Department of Music and Performing Arts, said that, this week, the days 08 and 09, will develop the "tables of May", I find that is interesting to propitiate the work together with the students of the DAAD through the generation of meeting points where students know what their peers are doing and can generate interdisciplinary projects between all departments.
To this end, he explained, there are generated exhibition and discussion tables of the projects carried out between the second and ninth semesters of the various departments of the DAAD and the headquarters will be the auditorium of the Department of Design and the Building of the Arts. These are 34 papers divided into 9 tables, all of which are open to the general public, but with the special participation of musicology students.
CEPROMUSIC
Finally, Víctor Ibarra, professor of the Department of Music, announced that in the framework of the activities of the month of the Arts, the ensemble CEPROMUSIC will make an artistic residence in the UG.
This ensemble, he said, specializes in contemporary music, has about eight or nine years in the diffusion of this discipline, with presentations throughout the country, in Spain, United Kingdom and South America, where he has enhanced music of Mexican composers.
It was considered that the ensemble was an artistic residence, said, and had different landing points, specifically to privilege the impact on the academic side and that the students of the UG are involved, which is fundamental; for this reason it was organized in the first instance a reading table of works of young composers, students of all the masters of composition of the degree in music.
In that order, on Tuesday May 7th, six written works will be read for this activity; Wednesday 08 will be dedicated to master classes for the members of the ensemble to retribute and dwell in contemporary techniques of composition, repertoire and experience in the part dedicated to wind and string instruments.
The residence concludes on Thursday 09 with a gala concert in the Teatro Juárez at 19hrs, free entrance, where the program is composed by six pieces, five of which are from musicians -professors and graduates- of the Universidad of Guanajuato: such ash Emmanuel Ontiveros, Adalberto Tovar, Francisco Javier González Compeán, Roberto Morales & Víctor Ibarra, who at the end thanked the support of the university authorities, the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), CEPROMUSIC and the State Institute of Culture, who generously provided the space for the concert.
