
Guanajuato, Gto., May 28, 2019.- As a result of an active and close academic relationship that has been established for 50 years between the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the Southern Oregon University (SOU), an academic and research collaboration agreement was signed, aimed at professors of both Institutions.
The signing of this document was made during the visit of the delegation of the SOU to the UG, in the frame of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the collaboration.
The agreement was signed by the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; The Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa; The president of the SOU, Dr. Linda Schott, and the Secretary of Academic Affairs of the institution, Dr. Susan Walsh.
Dr. Guerrero Agripino pointed out that this signing, rather than a legal act, is an act of brotherhood, which is assumed as a commitment to the future and at the same time as a recognition of the past.
In the same vein, Dr. Linda Schott welcomed the extensive and strong relationship between the two universities, which has a positive impact on people, institutions, states and nations.
The academic secretary of UG, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz recalled that the oldest link with a foreign university is with the Southern Oregon University and over five decades, more than 700 students from both institutions have participated in academic exchanges.
Celebrate friendship with group exhibition
Following the signing of the Agreement, representatives of the University of Guanajuato and the Southern Oregon University attended the inauguration of the exhibition "A friendship that lasts and reaffirms", in which students and professors participated in the Department of UG Visual Arts.
There, took place the delivery of awards to those who responded to the call and announced the three winners of the first place: Francesco Ruiz Flores Velázquez, José Antonio Jiménez and Job Solórzano, whose prize will be to make a two week stay at SOU.
