León, Gto., May 24, 2019.- A group of students of the eighth semester of the degree in culture and art of the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León, seek to break stereotypes with an atypical and innovative catwalk called "Residuo" (waste).

It is a project that has its origins in the subject of practices in shows. This idea stood out among other proposals for being an avant-garde offer within the region.

Through an androgynous and dissident walkway, "Residuo" seeks to support local producers, just as trade paradigms are broken.

Dr. Magali Barbosa Piza, a professor-researcher of the Department of Cultural Studies at the León Campus, commented that this type of activity makes the student able to propose, manage, practice and execute the theoretical contents that develop within the academic program. This type of option is a great alternative to strengthen the experience in the execution of cultural projects developed by the student community.

At the press conference, students Dafne Adame Canales and Valeria López Villalobos, part of the organizing committee of the project waste, accepted that these types of proposals break the schemes that have been formed in a city whereby tradition is related to leather and shoes.

Daphne said that the models are not always tall, slender and white-skinned characters, but have been incorporated into people with qualities and attributes other than typical stereotypes; This shows the cultural and anatomical variety that exists in modern society.

It should be noted that the local producers and artisans who have alternatives in the use of footwear, accessories and clothing were always supported, generating an avant-garde concept in relation to current trends.

To conclude, Valeria invited the public to attend this event next Friday June 7 at 20:00 hours. The entrance is completely free, and the footbridge can be seen on Francisco I. Madero Street in an establishment located in downtown of León, Guanajuato.

For more information it is necessary to see the Facebook page ResiduoPlataforma or visit the site www.ugto.mx/campusleon where more details of this event will be announced.
