Tepic, Nayarit., June 3, 2019.- High school students from the University of Guanajuato (UG), participated in the contests of Mathematics, Robotics, Story, Short Film, Soloists and Oratory organized the West Center Region of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES) in the city of Tepic, Nayarit.

58 students participated in achieving outstanding results, in the robotics competition organized by the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás Hidalgo, the teams of the High School Centro Histórico León and HS Salamanca, obtained the first and third place respectively; while, in the short film competition, organized by the Autonomous University of Nayarit, the team of the HS Irapuato obtained the first place.

Regarding the robotics competition, which consisted of designing a remote inspection and control vehicle with remote vision, the competition consisted of two stages: design exposure stage and performance stage, providing a value of 30 and 70 percent respectively to the final score. In this competition, the students of the HS Centro Histórico León who obtained the first were René Martínez García, Rey Eduardo Vargas Vargas, Octavio Daniel Almeida Ramírez advised by Mtro. Carlos Florentino Origel Zavala. While third place was for the students Miguel Ángel Míreles Vázquez, Carlos Sebastián Peralta Aguado, Inés Alejandro García Mosqueda, Alan Sadot Rivera Calderón, Ricardo Israel Rodríguez Vida, Julio César Muñoz Lara from HS Salamanca advised by Dr. Juan Antonio Sánchez Márquez.

The Short Film contest consisted of producing a video lasting five minutes, in which the members of the team of the HS Irapuato, advised by Mtro. Alejandro Palizada, they won first place: Jorge Andrés Del Castillo Caudillo, Víctor Alberto Hernández, Leonardo Iván Villafaña Vallejo, Diana Guadalupe López Salazar, Fátima Azucena Cabrera Barajas, María José Vejar Velázquez, Ximena Landín Galván, José Alejandro Mora García, Claudia Daniela Flores Cuellar, Andrea Elizabeth Cárdenas Rodríguez, Cecilia Araceli Estrada García, Liliana Michelle Vega Parra.

It should be noted that students from the HS of Celaya, Salamanca, Irapuato, León, Centro Histórico León, Salvatierra, Pénjamo and Silao also competed.

The University of Guanajuato was in charge of coordinating the competition of Instrumentalist-Soloist, in which Dr. Ramón Alvarado of the Department of Music of the Guanajuato Campus was in charge, who served as a jury to determine the places for University of Colima (first and second place) and University of Nayarit (third place).

Finally, Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona in his capacity as Coordinator of the High School Level of the West Central Region of ANUIES, closed the events and took the opportunity to congratulate the students who are protagonists of the competitions. He thanked the RCO for the support of the Universities that made up the activities, to the host University for coordinating the diligence of these competitions. He mentioned that the need for work between authorities, teachers and students is required to obtain favorable results.
