profesores-y-egresado-ug-presentan-modelo-de-atencion-de-rehabilitacion-en-la-cuarta-feria-de-libro-de-la-unam-ug-ugto

León, Gto., August 23, 2019.- In order to bring Health Sciences students closer to the publishing, culture and research world, two professors-researchers from the León Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and a graduate of Biomedical Engineering gave a lecture on the Torre Vida UG model focused on the Specialized Physical Rehabilitation Unit (UERF) at the Fourth Health Sciences Book Fair of the School of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Dr. Beatriz Verónica González Sandoval, Coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and UERF, was responsible for giving this lecture in the academic program of the fair; Dr. José Jorge Delgado García, Research and Postgraduate Support Coordinator at campus León and Ing. David Abraham Santos Moreno who collaborates in the area of Biomedical Engineering of UERF.

The talk attendees were students of the Physiotherapy degree, teachers of this educational program, coordinators and collaborators of this educational program; In this regard, Dr. Beatriz González commented in an interview that "we were congratulated on the model that we are implementing, especially since we are promoting interdisciplinary work, which is a difficult thing to do".

He added that he was very interested in the model of care that is given in UERF, "it is based on objectives, we are changing a little the paradigms of what is known as rehabilitation care, (...) what is usually done is that the doctor dictates the indications and the physical therapist has to apply them as is; we don't, the doctor gives the diagnosis of course, but gives the goals and recommendations and contraindications, so that physiotherapists, our students, have the freedom to design the treatment," he said.

Dr. González Sandoval added that there is interest from academics from UNAM's degree in Physiotherapy in exchanging students between the two institutions to experiment with this model.

The more than 70 people listened to the experience generated by having a space of learning and application of knowledge such as Torre VIDA UG and particularly that students have access to tangible projects like this.
