Guanajuato, Gto., August 27, 2019.- Out of about 5,000 applicants, M. Juan Carlos Páramo Vázquez, academic advisor of the Oral Litigation Team and professor in the master's degree in Criminal Legal Sciences at Guanajuato University, was one of the 100 selected to pursue a specialty in Inter-American Human Rights System.

"I will be the first prosecutor of the country with this distinction, and the only professor at the University of Guanajuato to have this specialty," said M. Páramo, who explained that he will participate in the fourth edition of the course that is held in conjunction with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the Organization of American States and the Institute of Public Policy on Human Rights of MERCOSUR.

M. Páramo Vázquez participated in the call that was launched at Latin America level, in which only one hundred people from 32 countries were admitted, who were selected after an evaluation of their academic experience, curriculum vitae, activity in which they perform, among other elements.

Participants include teachers, public servants, members of civil society and presidents of public bodies focused on the defense of human rights. Together with them, the UG academic will discuss topics such as transnational human rights policies.

M. Juan Carlos Páramo said this specialization course offers the opportunity to analyze how other countries have solved human rights problems and replicate these successful policies.

In this regard, he called on the university community: "I would tell you to take advantage of the opportunities, to trust their capabilities because Guanajuato University offers them sufficient foundations to be able to compete with anyone, but also to working together and building ties with people who are also concerned about human rights at the regional level."

Therefore, he emphasized that in the House of Studies he has had the possibility to grow personally and professionally, so by entering this course he not only represents himself, but the Institution.

It is worth mentioning that, under the advice of Master Páramo, the Oral Litigation Team representing the University of Guanajuato has achieved the first place in the National University Criminal Litigation Competition, held in Argentina; have won the "Champion of the Champions" Cup twice, a contest that is based in Washington, D.C., USA; the first place in the Fourth National Contest of Oral Trial and Preliminary Hearings, in its editions held in the cities of Tijuana and Guadalajara; they were two national champions in the University Competition of Oral Litigation, organized by the Center for the Development of Lawyers in Oral and Technological Litigation of Monterrey; among other multiple recognitions.
