Yuriria, Gto., August 20, 2019.- The Doctorate in Engineering Sciences taught by the University of Guanajuato (UG) at the Yuriria headquarters, entered the National Quality Postgraduate Census (PNPC) as a newly created program.

It is important to note that one year after the creation of this educational program, it obtains recognition from the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) that is valid for 5 years. Among other strengths, 100 percent of its teaching plant are teachers with a doctor's degree, and all are members of the National System of Researchers: 3 teachers are national researchers' level 2; 8 teachers are level 1 and 3 are candidates.

It was in 2018 that the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies of the Engineering Division of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, opened the educational program to increase scientific capacity in the south of the state, working on two generation lines and application of knowledge: electronics and intelligent systems and applied optics and optoelectronic materials.

The academic staff in Yuriria has worked in collaboration with their peers from Universities such as the Autonomous Of Querétaro, the Autonomous Of San Luis Potosí and the Instituto Tecnológico de Aguascalientes; at the international level, he has carried out research projects with professors from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Currently there are 2 generations pursuing the doctorate, with students from the state of Guanajuato and Yuriria mainly, but also from Oaxaca and Colombia.

This program aims to train high-level researchers capable of generating new knowledge in one of its two lines of research and is aimed at graduate engineering graduates in the areas of electronics, computer systems, industrial, technology management and related disciplines.

The doctorate is valid for 48 months and the next admission will be in January 2020, reported Dr. Luis Manuel Ledesma Carrillo, research professor of the program, who added that the current program coordinator, Dr. Geovanni Hernández Gómez, is also the Director of the Guanajuato Technopark, which will open up more possibilities for linking between the academy and the productive sector.
