Guanajuato, Gto., August 16, 2019.- During the period 2015-2019, the University of Guanajuato (UG) increased the budget for scholarships 70 percent and diversified the stimulus for students, in order to avoid desertion and incentivize the effort and talent of its community.

One of the measures endorsed by the General University Council was the 40% increase in the grant budget. This, in addition to the entry into force of the new Regulations on Student Scholarships, Supports and Stimulus, allowed the number of beneficiaries to reach 13,343 students.

In addition, new modalities were implemented, such as those aimed at those who stand out for their talent in the sports or cultural field, and students who will enter for a bachelor's degree and have an outstanding track record at the high school level.

It highlights the creation of the Regional Equity Programme (PER), which has given higher education opportunities to nearly 100 young people from marginalized areas. So far, four generations have entered thanks to the sum of support from the State Government, the Board of Trustees of the University and the Judiciary of the State, among others, which have provided resources to benefit the beneficiaries.

In addition to economic stimulus, the University of Guanajuato has worked on simplifying and reducing administrative procedures. Thus, to expedite the degree and promote the insertion into the workplace or the continuation of postgraduate studies, now the House of Studies issues its certificates of study in digital format and payments were abolished for obtaining a degree.

The need to transition to flexible education schemes and take advantage of technological tools to reach a greater number of people, led to the creation of the Educational Multimodality System (SUME), through which approximately 500 courses, which are available on the site https://nodo.ugto.mx/
