Irapuato, Gto. October 20, 2015.- To collaborate in the research of threatened vegetable species in Mexico, Dr. Miriam Fátima Isidrón Pérez, professor from the "Universidad Agraria de la Habana" (Cuba), performs an stay in the Life Sciences Division (DICIVA for its acronym in Spanish) from the University of Guanajuato (UG).
The expert in vegetable biotechnology performs her second three-month stay in Irapuato with the UG. She is an invited professor to the program of special scholarships for specialists and professors from the Mexican government for foreigners, from the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation (AMEXID for its acronym in Spanish).
The invited professor also teaches the course-workshop "Aspectos novedosos del cultivo de tejidos vegetales de interés para la Agronomía" (New aspects from the vegetable tissue culture with interest for Agronomy), organized by the academic coordination at DICIVA and the Laboratory of Vegetable Tissue Culture in charge of Dr. Héctor Gordon Nuñez Palenius.
The 60-hour course includes topics such as fundaments for vegetable tissue culture, In vitro Morphogenesis in bio-fabrics, bioreactors for plant production as well as the application of tissue culture in the genetic improvement for cultures and the conservation of germplasm.
From September 28 to December 4, students and graduates from Agronomy will participate in theoretic and practical activities in conferences, seminars, laboratories and workshops.
Likewise, the professor will dictate the magistrate conferences for Ph.D. students in Bioscience: "Ex and in vitro Mutagenesis, perspectives of agricultural applications", "Aspects of the genetic improvement in the resistance of the plants to diseases" and "In vitro culture and soma clonal variation".
In addition, the experimental development in the laboratory, the researcher advices students in Agronomy at El Copal from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca.
