
León, Gto. November 3, 2015.- The feature film "Rufuima, un nuevo comienzo" (Rufuima (blossoming flower), a new beginning), directed by Elisa López de Lara González, graduate from the Bachelor degree in Culture and Art in Campus Leon from the University of Guanajuato, will exhibit in the 2nd International Show of Cinema and Indigenous Video occurring in Mexico City from November 18 – 29.
The documentary is a work that Elisa López de Lara linked his thesis project to, regarding the migration and interculturality topic with a family from Wixarika from San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Her interest for the documentary came from the necessity to take her thesis beyond with and audiovisual product that could reach more people she said:
"I heard about ETNOAI, a space that seeks to integrate science & art, reason & emotion, and that is what I was looking for, because the family of Wixarika who I work with became more than just informants, they became my family".
Therefore, she decided to took a subject in the Teaching and Research laboratory from the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities ETNOAI (Interpretative Audiovisual Ethnography (for its acronym in Spanish)), space where the Ph.D. in anthropological sciences, Maricruz Romero Ugalde is in charge.
The crew filmed the documentary in the city of San Luis Potosí and in the New Colony at the Community of Santa Catarina Cuetomatitlan (Tuapurie), city of Mezquitic, Jalisco. Students from sociology, social anthropology, culture, art and design formed the multidisciplinary production crew.
"Rufuima, a new beginning", received funding from the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Towns in the national summon where 600 projects participated.

Currently the documentary starts its festival and congresses phase. On November 9 it will be exhibited at 14:00hr at the "Jaime Litvak King" Auditorium from the Institute of Anthropological Research from UNAM. Within the 2nd International Show of Cinema and Indigenous Video, it will be exhibited on November 22 at 18:00hr in the "José Revueltas" Hall from UNAM's College University Cultural Center.
In addition, as an extension of the Cinema and Indigenous Video show, the documentary inserts in an itinerant route in different parts in the country.
