
Guanajuato, Gto., November 5 2015.- During the "II Foro Universitario Torino-Guanajuato II Messico verso il XXI secolo", the rector from campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, signed the renewal of the specific agreement to collaborate between the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies (DCSyH for its acronym in Spanish) and the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPyG for its acronym in Spanish) from the University of Guanajuato (UG) with the Department of Politics, Culture and Society from the University of Turin.
In a work tour, the rector from UG's Campus Guanajuato and academic from both divisions, among them, Dr. Cesar Federico Macías Cervantes, head of the Department of History created several activities from academic relations that already started by initiative of such department.
Dr. Corona Fernández said that somehow, the gesture returned to the University of Turin who visited in past years, for over ten years there has been a link mainly with the Department of History, but then broadened to the area of Political Science from the Division of Law, Politics and Government.
"We signed a renewal on the agreement," he said, but he bases to strengthen the collaboration work between the University of Turin and the University of Guanajuato have also established.
Interest for Mexico
"There really is a group of researchers, specialists in political, social and cultural life from our country, true experts on Mexico, their popular culture, political development in the XX and XXI centuries", mentioned rector Corona Fernández who shared the opportunity to talk with the rector from the University of Turin, Prof. Gianmaria Ajani who coincidently with ours, is also linked to the law ambient.
He added that he had the opportunity to share a class to the students from the last semesters about "Mexico, Culture and Politics", mentioning what the University of Guanajuato did in the class "José Revueltas" of Philosophy and Literature. In the meantime, Dr. César Federico Macias, head of the Department of History, developed a class on sports as one of the axis to study contemporary societies and a topic on migratory processes in contrast with the rejected migrations and are in some sense illegal, there is another one that is desired like professional sports.
It was a very productive week, lots of work and there is already a joint publication, he revealed, while in the next year the forum will be held in Mexico.
As information to know, he revealed that Italian professors are very interested in Mexico's political life, like Tiziana Bertaccini, who recently published a book on PRI "in Italy, they are very interested in the political structure of contemporary Mexico" and they have also come to study syndical aggrupation in this department. The University of Turin not only had link with UG but also with the College in the Border, for which they have had work in Tijuana, Cd. Juárez. There was even a presentation of professor from Cd. Juárez about violence and femicide.
He also sustained a reunion with Dr. Marco Bellingeri, who was Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Mexico, "it was a productive week, besides signing the renewal of the agreement, we established axis to consolidate the research group and a project to use mobility not only among academics but also students, with the idea to receive them in short stay, full semesters o even study complete programs and the possibility for mobility for students in Guanajuato".
Finally, he revealed a talk with Dr. José Luis Lucio, Academic Secretary in the University of Guanajuato, to mention there is interest in widening the link of collaboration to the areas in physics and chemistry and not only human studies.
