León, Gto. November 11, 2015.- Dr. Ramón Castañeda Priego, guest professor at Campus Leon from the University of Guanajuato obtained the research professorship Alexander von Humboldt, one with the greatest prestige in international level and the most important granted by the German scientific community and foreign researchers.

Such professorship is an initiative from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, dedicated to promote and support academic stays for researchers – with a high academic profile—in educative institution from Germany.

Due to the international prestige of this professorship, hundreds of researchers from the best universities and research centers in the world compete.

The project "Colloidal Soft Matter" granted Dr. Castañeda Priego a collaboration between the University of Guanajuato and the University of Düsseldorf.

This project also works in understanding the thermodynamic properties of some complex fluids such as proteins, and the properties of directed transport of colloidal particles in external fields.

The greatest impact this professorship will have, is that it will contribute to the fundamental understanding of the physical properties of materials that are of interest in several areas of knowledge like physics, chemistry, biology and nanotechnology. Several postgraduate students from the Division of Engineering participate in this project contributing to the formation of highly competitive human resources.

When interviewed, the researcher explained that this professorship implies performing short academic stays in the University of Düsseldorf for three years to develop el project in colloidal soft matter.

Dr. Ramón Castañeda has a brilliant career renowned nationally and internationally; in 2014 he was distinguished with the Marcos Moshinsky professorship, scholarship delivered by the foundation with the same name to young Mexican scientists between 35 and 45 years old, with a successful, outstanding and soaring career in their specialization area, with creative projects and proven achievements.
