licenciatura-enfermeria-universidad-de-guanajuatoLeón, Gto., November 16, 2015.- The Division of Health Sciences from Campus Leon from the University of Guanajuato, together with the Department of Nursing and Midwifery in Guanajuato received the re-accreditation from the educative program in Nursing and Midwifery granted by the Mexican Council for Nursing Accreditation A.C. (COMACE for its acronym in Spanish).

The excellence to what today the Department of Nursing and Midwifery in Guanajuato refers to is the result to fulfill in time and form with the settled stages by COMACE.

The accreditation must be renewed every 5 years, the process goes through an evaluation instrument that comprehends 263 indicators from which 26 are considered basic and sent in a first moment for reviewing. When covering more than 80% of these basic indicators, an in situ visit to the department is programmed to review the evidence from all indicators. In the case for the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, the certification dictum was approved.

The main impact of this re-accreditation is the quality recognitions from the educative program and the educational offer in general from the University of Guanajuato. This will benefit by granting social and professional service spaces and the acceptance of students in the clinical fields for the development of their practices since this certification is necessary.

Currently, the bachelor degree in Nursing and Midwifery in Guanajuato has 430 students and the number continues to grow.

In Mexico, the recognition to the formation of the professionals in nursing and their performance in several areas such as hospitality, community and in companies, as well as the autonomous exercise and research has grown. In addition, with the program's re-accreditation, the University of Guanajuato consolidates as a national referent in quality for these educative programs.
