Guanajuato, Gto., November 17, 2015.- During the "5to. Certamen Regional de Emprendedores de la Región Centro Occidente (RCO) Fese 2015", the students from the University of Guanajuato (UG) obtained the 1rst regional place in the category "Business Idea" with the project "SMARTENERGY".

The objective of this contest is to encourage the entrepreneur culture in higher education institutions (IES from its acronym in Spanish) from different regions in the country, as well as to recognize the entrepreneur and innovative capacity of students and newly graduate from different disciplines in higher education.

Students David Alejandro Balcázar Torres, Raúl Uriel Barrera Sarabia and Azucena Mascote Razo from the Division of Engineering from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, obtained the first place with the project "SMARTENERGY" which is a systems with different devices and technologies allowing to monitor, diminish the payment of energy consumption, as well as controlling electrical equipment in a remote way, all this through a mobile application.

It is important to mention that the Direction of Link from UG, through the Institutional Program of Entrepreneurs encouraged the participation of students in the Category "Business Idea" where "SMARTENERGY" and Tortilleria "MILPALIZTLI" represented the University of Guanajuato in the final stage.

The project tortilleria "MILPALIZTLI" was developed by the students Velia de Montserrat Ochoa Ruíz and Roberto Carlos González Canales from the Department of Multidisciplinary studies – Yuriria from the Division of Engineering.

MILPALIZTLI besides being one of the final projects in the RCO 2015 contest, keeps developing an innovative platform to make a traditional tortilla more nutritive and benefic for health in its two lines; natural and healthy.

The natural line elaborates tortillas exclusively with original flavor, while the healthy line makes tortillas with ingredients like nopal, flaxseed, amaranth and bran.

The event took place in the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and organized by the Link network from RCO from the National Association of Universities from the National Association of Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES); and the Foundation "Educación Superior Empresa" (FESE), where students from the universities and technologies from the states of Aguascalientes, Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacán and Nayarit participated.
