Guanajuato, Gto., November 19, 2015. In 2014, the University of Guanajuato became the first foreign institution in winning the National Contest of College Criminal Litigation in Argentina. Now, the oral litigation team from UG is preparing to return with the intention to obtain another triumph.

In six years of existence, the team composed by student from the bachelor degree in Law has kept undefeated in state and regional competitions; it has obtained the first places in a national level and in United States, won the cup "Campeón de campeones" (Champ of champs), when competing with other winning teams from national competitions in litigation.

These results are the reflection of the preparation we receive at UG, assures Claudia Aguilar Rangel, team assessor. "The formation is comprehensive, not only we receive training in oral litigation techniques, the rest of our professors complement this formation in aspects of depth and not only technical".

Students practice at 8 pm until 2 am. There is no weekends to rest and they practice as a team –to practice interrogation—also individually –in which they prepare the allegations—"I would say we train at least three times a day, alone, with the assessor and with the rest of the team", we could talk up to six hours a day, says Pedro Valdovino Caballero, who joined the group since he was in fourth semester.

All this work is for a personal commitment, they do it because they like it, learn and "because is the form to reattribute UG for everything it gives us", agree the law students.

The oral litigation team emerged from the context of the Reform to the Criminal Justice System, when analyzing which was the best way to implement it, the answer was "since forming lawyers in the classrooms, not wait until they have a 10 or 20 year career" explains Claudia Aguilar.

Professor Juan Manuel Olvera Méndez was who took to UG the class of oral litigation techniques in 2004 and formed the team even without the reform being implemented in the state of Guanajuato. "It means, the University was prepared for that system even before the reform was implemented", added the current team assessor.

Despite the effort that implies being part of this group, the students consider themselves privileged for having this preparation, tutoring from their professors and access to international experiences, such as the contest in Argentina.

The competence that will happen in Ciudad de la Plata in November 24 – 26 represents a double challenge, because it is a different legal system and because the case is exposed before a jury, which does not exists in Mexico. "We are going with the illusion of winning, but also to learn from their system", concluded Zurisadarai Guzmán Pérez, team leader.
