Guanajuato, Gto., November 21, 2015. The analysis of the postmodern condition and its reflection on everyday life is the topic for the new book of the Ph.D. in Arts Raúl Reyes Ramos, graduate from the University of Guanajuato, who just published "Postmodernidad y vida cotidiana. Arte, poder y sus conflictos" (Postmodernity and everyday life; Art, power and its conflicts).
This work covers aspects such the oblivion of the body, the imposition of the power from bullets and blood, the domain of the world from transnationals, or the relation of artists with power. Topics that contribute answering "¿Qué perdimos en el camino del progreso?" (What did we lose in the way of progress?), as the author questions in the text.
"I was interested that the book reflected that postmodern character, fragmentary but with a conductive line", for example in first place you can read the essay "the road of art's death and then, the first funerals of art, in a way that the topics relate despite being different".
The text emerged from the master degree thesis, with the intention that his research derived in small "useful" essays, and not only kept as many others, without anyone reading them, explains Raúl Reyes.
"I was interested in the thesis to be open for a greater public because I think there is a quantity of works that can have that promotion, with a good editor, with a good work, you can make small articles", he adds.
In fact, he published his book by participating in a summon from the editorial "Abismos", with the sub-seal "Acribus", that commercializes the works in Amazon® International and Amazon® Mexico; which allows reaching a much broader audience.
A writer who did not want to write
Graduate from Spanish Letters, and from the master and doctorate degrees in Arts from UG, Raúl Reyes tells that during the bachelor degree he focused in the theoretical part, the origin of the language, philology. He was not interested in writing, better said, "I always wrote but never thought in publishing".
"When I finished the degree, I became interested, after that I had no doubt". First, he began with a magazine, and in 2012 published "33 city rounds" under the "Azafrán" and "Cinabrio" seals. The work presented in the International Fair of the Book in the Mining Palace where he finished convincing himself of his calling.
"Getting there and seeing there are people interested, that the children go and see the book and they like it, and that the parents buy them the book, the agents contact you... that changes your perspective, you see that is just a matter of insisting, of working", he assured.
