Guanajuato, Gto., November 25, 2015.- Francisco Javier López Guzmán is the first graduate in a doctorate level from the double degree program between the University of Guanajuato and the Nagaoka University of Technology in Japan.

In an interview, Francisco Javier, mentioned that to obtain the doctorate degree in such educative institutions, he made to researches on new inorganic materials, named geo-polymers.

The outstanding graduate told that his taste to study Chemistry born when he as a child, since watching movies about magic, he took the wizard Merlin as one of his idols and proposed to himself than when he grew up, he wanted to be a magician too.

He soon realized the closest wat to make magic was Chemistry, and since he was a little kid, he approached this science and the creation of materials. "When the time came, I heard the University of Guanajuato had the bachelor degree in Chemistry, where they teach all the bases for synthesis and reactions of materials", indicated.

Likewise, he said that in his time through university, he discovered that other horizons could be known and the opportunity to perform his doctorate studies in Japan presented.

"For me it was the best choice because besides the technological development Japan has, its cultural richness is overwhelming, that is why I learned a lot in many ways", the graduate affirmed.

My studies in the direct doctorate of Chemistry lasted six years, distributed between both countries Mexico and Japan. "The first time I arrived to the foreign country was a little stressful because Japanese is a very different language than ours and another alphabet, and there like here, people speak their native tongue and few communicate in English".

"Within the school I adapted, I understood the chemical reactions and the spectrusm they wrote –all the things I've learnt at UG—as chemist I could read them, it was like that how I adapted to the research group. As time went by, fear fades and you begin speaking more in English, in Japanese, you begin to adapt with the culture, make friends from the place and other countries and it becomes a very enriching and grateful experience", Francisco Javier López explained.

Currently, he first graduate from the double degree program for the doctorate in chemistry, performs as coordinator of the "Gigaku Techno Park" in Mexico, a space that strengthens the link between the academic and industrial sector, and that exists in several parts of the world as Mongolia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Spain among others.
