Guanajuato., Gto., November 27, 2015. For second time, the oral litigation team from the University of Guanajuato (UG), obtained the first place in the National Contest of College Criminal Litigation in Argentina where more than twenty universities from Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Colombia participated.
The team is composed by: Zurisadarai Guzmán Pérez, Valeria Arroyo Cortés, Sergio Raúl Saucedo Sánchez, Gloria Guadalupe García Sandate, Karla Janet Castañeda Ornelas and Oliver Alexei Martínez Ortega, students from the Department of Law, Politics, Government (DDPG) from Campus Guanajuato, who are assessed by Professor Claudia Aguilar Rangel.
This is the second time the students from the University of Guanajuato participate in this competition; in 2014, they turn UG in the first foreign institution in winning this contest.
For the students from DDPG, the competition in Argentina represented a double challenge because it implied to face a different legal ordinance and expose the case before a jury, which does not exist in Mexico.
The National Contest of College Criminal Litigation occurs since 2009, by initiative from the "Instituto de Estudios Comparados en Ciencias Penales y Sociales (INECIP)", with the purpose to encourage the dynamic of litigation of an oral system, train in the matter of adversarial and strategic litigation and boost reforms of universities' syllabuses.
The competition that occurred in the "Universidad Nacional de La Plata" lasted three days, in which sixteen trials were made daily. Every team participated at least two rounds, one as prosecution and another as defense.
Since its origin –six years ago—the oral litigation team from UG has maintained undefeated in state and regional competitions, has obtained the first places nationally and last July won in United States the cup "Champ of Champs" when competing other winning teams from national litigation competitions.
After announcing their victory in Argentina, the team's assessor thanked in social media the support from the University of Guanajuato and expressed the pride from the team members by representing and contributing to consolidate the prestige of this Maximum House of Studies in the state.
