Celaya, Gto., November 30, 2015.- The Division of Health Sciences and Engineering from Campus Celaya-Salvatierra from the University of Guanajuato (UG) offers the Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation with the objective to from excellent professionals with a calling for service for the wellbeing and health of people.

Graduates are capable to act in a multidisciplinary and autonomous work team using knowledge and unique skills from their profession with the purpose to maintain or recover the quality of life from the people they serve professionally.

This degree is part of the new educative offer from Campus Celaya-Salvatierra. Eight semesters compose the study plan, integrated by fifty-four learning units and adapted to the new educative model from UG.

Physiotherapy is considered a key treatment in the rehabilitation of a patient, who suffers weakening conditions resulting from accidents or diseases and to maintain the motor and functional abilities of the body.

This degree is very important in society; according statistical data, in Mexico during the year 2010, there were 5 million 739 thousand and 270 people with some kind of disability that represents 5.1% of the total population; being limited to move is the most popular. Solely in the state of Guanajuato, 5.48% of the population suffers some disability.

Physical therapy is in charge of therapeutically applying the physical agents such as water, heat, sound, electricity, light and mechanics to cure or improve a pathologic condition from the neuro-osteo-muscular system. The therapist is the highly qualified professional to adequately use these agents, in addition of providing therapeutic exercises and techniques in the framework of current technology to integrate the individual to his or her bio-psycho-social sphere.
