IN A PRESS CONFERENCE, M. ROBERTO BELTRÁN ZAVALA WAS RATIFIED AS HEAD DIRECTOR FOR THE ORCHESTRA

Guanajuato, Gto., December 3, 2015. Within the activities from the presentation of the first season of concerts from the Symphonic Orchestra from the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) in 2016, the explained the agreements that will allow tightening bonds between the orchestra and the Department of Music from the Maximum House of Studies of the state.

In a press conference led by the pro vost from the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa, in representation of the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, also informed that M. Roberto Beltrán Zavala was ratified as Head Director of OSUG.

In behalf of the general rector, Dr. Rodríguez de la Rosa congratulated the orchestra members for the exceptional work they do and to M. Roberto Beltrán Zavala for his on-target conduction of OSUG.

On his part, M. Roberto Beltrán thanked the confidence Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero granted, as well as the support and accompaniment of the press and especially, to the public that goes to the concerts of the college orchestra. He also acknowledged the excellent work and commitment from the orchestra members.

When talking about the first concert season in 2016, he explained that the program covers monumental plays, contemporary music and Mexican music, and were created following criteria like the artistic development from the orchestra musicians and OSUG's own identity.

He highlight the concert to celebrate OSUG's 65th anniversary, where the "Teatro Juarez" will be the scenario, and where they will interpret the "Fantastic Symphony" from Berlioz, piece chosen for its "deployment of virtuous orchestra" that allows every musician to show his or her talent.

A fundamental part of the work from the orchestra in 2016 will be the tight bond with the Department of Music from UG that will allow the students to participate in workshops from the soloist guests that collaborate with OSUG.

In addition, with the intention to train music students for a "extremely competitive" job world, they will have auditions, with the intention for the students to learn to unveil in them, because there is an abysm between the academic and professional life, recognized M. Beltrán, who said in preview that throughout the year they will work a program that allows opportunities to composers in Guanajuato.

In her intervention, director from Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López said that OSUG is a great ambassador from the university, and highlighted that as part of the social commitment it has with the institution, it will extend its presence to other campus, cities, spaces like prisons and social readapting centers, activities that come from the initiative from M. Beltran Zavala.

Also present in the press conference were OSUG's first violin M. Dimitri Kisselev, who assured that with Roberto Beltran born in the orchestra the concept of directing "where to go, what to do" and said that musically and technically, he grants the best grade.

In the same sense, the Syndical delegate from the orchestra, M. Roberto Samario Gutierrez pointed out that the work from the university's authorities and the director of OSUG has passed the expectations showing great sensitivity and foresaw a "ludic and formative" season of concerts and an orchestra in the path of consolidation.
