
Salamanca, Gto., January 15, 2016.- "Manos de Cera" (Wax hands), the short film created by students and graduates from the degree in Digital Arts from Campus Irapuato – Salamanca from the University of Guanajuato (UG), was selected to participate in festivals in ten countries and many states in the Mexican republic.
The short directed by Sergio Martinez García depicts three stories, three generations, one tradition. In the city of Salamanca, Guanajuato, handcrafts are created with flaking wax and wax sculpture, that little by little has lost its previous relevance, but the love and passion the artisans have allowed it to persist.
This documentary debuted in January 2015 in the Cinematographic Expression Forum "Carpe Diem" in the city of Salamanca and from there it has presented in festivals in Spain, France, United States, Germany, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Mexico.
The short film had the participation from students and graduates from the Division of Engineering from UG in Salamanca: Sergio Martínez García (direction and investigation), Gloria Estefany Sánchez Castro (executive production), Nitzla Julieta Ruiz Zapatero (assistant director), Karen Damayanti Razo Vargas (production assistant), Brenda Eunice Martínez Loredo and Karla Patricia Guzmán Castillo (direction of photography), Rodrigo Nava Arriaga, Maria Aguirre Camacho and Estefania Moreno Rocha (direct sound), as well as Rodrigo Nava Arriaga and Yibran Martínez Siu (edition and post-production)
Currently, this university short film has achieved awards such as the Cinematographic Expression Forum "Carpe "Diem", best documentary short film in the "Festival Latinoamericano de Cortos online" in Venezuela, the 2nd best short film in the University Forum "Espiral" in Guanajuato and an honor mention in the the festival "Ay Guana Shorts" in Guanajuato
It also participated in the official selection from in the Wiper Film Festival in New York, "Festival Latinoamericano de Cine de los Cerros" in Valparaiso, Chile, "MECAL CHILE Festival Latinoamericano e Internacional de Corotmetrajes", in the "Festival de Cine al Carrete in Tolima, Colombia; "Festival Internacional de Cine Santa Cruz FENAVID in Bolivia", in the Guianajuato International Film Festival and in the "Festival Audiovisual Travelling" in Celaya.
The film will participate in the "IX Encuentro Hispanoamericano de Cine y Video Documental Independtiente "Contra el Silencio Todas las Voces" and is part of the short film tour from "Esperanza Distribución".
