Guanajuato, Gto., January 13, 2016.- With the purpose to link the University of Guanajuato with society and sensitize the spectators on new ways to observe our environment, professors and students from the University of Guanajuato join science and art through a photographic expo.
Dr. Armando Obregón Herrera, professor from the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato (UG), organizes an annual expo of the creations his students obtain in the course "Microscopia y Microfotografía" (Microscopy and microphotography) in the Department of Biology.
In an interview, Dr. Obregón Herrera highlighted that it is very important to move the work done by both professors and students at UG to society, for this reason, the enthusiast professor, has incentivized his students to show the photographs they make in the class he teaches.
"Murmullos de luz" (light murmurs) is the name of the most recent photographic expo produced by college students. It is precise to mention that such expo has been already installed in the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences, however it has an itinerant character so next January 15 at 17:30hr, the opening ceremony for such expo will occur in the "Casa de la Cultura" in the city of San Francisco del Rincón.
Dr. Obregón affirmed that with this expo they pretend to share the marvels that come from fusing science with art, since it is through a scientific instrument –such as the microscope—that produces a series of artistic photographs.
In addition, he indicated that this type of activities creates a tighter bond between the University of Guanajuato and society. Through "Murmullos de luz" the public will have the opportunity to appreciate what is done in the labs. "With this expo, we try to create a more harmonic world and sensitize people about the new ways to see things".
People who visit "Murmullos de luz" will find microscopic photographs of several objects and organisms such as leaves, plants, insects, pieces of fabric, polen, salt and sugar grains, cat fetuses, bacteria, and yeasts just to mention some.
It is important to mention that besides the students from the University of Guanajuato, there was participation from members of the Academic Body with the name "Respuesta Celular al Estrés" (Cellular response to stress), "Murmullos de luz" will finish its exhibit in San Francisco del Rincón on January 29th, 2015.
