
Guanajuato, Gto., January 22, 2015.- English Director Peter Greenaway arrived to the Teatro Principal of the University of Guanajuato (UG) to present his most recent movie "Eisenstein in Guanajuato".
In such enclosure, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, handed a recognition to the filmmaker in the name of all the university community.
Dr. Luis Felipe Agripino, reiterated the commitment the University of Guanajuato has with the cultural offer and at this time with the seventh art, hence, handing in the recognition, thanked the filmmaker "the generous visit to our University for the movie's premier, whose genius transgresses the self-imposed limits for the cinema".
In an interview –before the premiere—Greenaway expressed his enthusiasm to return to the city that watch the movie born and present to the people in Guanajuato.
"The movie will be seen in almost all the world: China, Japan, Russia and will also be on the billboard next week in North America. However, returning to Guanajuato is something special, since we made the movie here and the people in this city participated actively in the film, I am very grateful with Guanajuato and its people, without them it wouldn't be possible to make this feature film".
Teatro Principal was full of spectators that let themselves wrap by the peculiar esthetic Peter Greenaway puts into each one of his creations. The viewers were able to appreciate a story of attraction and love, between the Soviet movie director, Sergei Eisenstein and the Mexican Anthropologist Palomino Cañedo, a relation that unveils an ecstasy creating a link between the "Personal Eros and Collective Tanatos".
At the end of the movie projection, there was a dialogue between Peter Greenaway, Elmer Bëck and Luis Alberti –feature actors of the movie—with the viewers, who could express their impressions and questions about "Eisenstein in Guanajuato".
During the talk, the English filmmaker highlighted that it has two more scripts about the travels the Soviet director Sergei Eisenstein made to Switzerland and Holland, hence, he wishes to make some scenes in Mexico and it is highly probable he returns to the Guanajuato city to film.
