
Guanajuato, Gto., January 28, 2016.- Full-time professors of the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies from Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG); Dr. Patricia Campos Rodríguez and Dr. Felipe Macias Gloria presented their book "Devociones: mentalidades y creencias culturales" (Devotions: mentalities and cultural beliefs), a book that was the result of the program "La Universidad de Guanajuato en tu comunidad" (The University of Guanajuato in your community).
In the book's prologue, Sergio Noriega refers that the authors show how the ex-votes allow a direct approach, a deep look to the experiences, attitudes, aspirations and values of people in their daily battles to solve everyday problems.
During the presentation, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, reaffirmed the commitment the university has with the academic doing, because the transcendence of the same has to do with the responsibility of UG with the environment and the community.
Likewise, he mentioned that this work represents the recognition to those who make possible the work to evoke the essence of the university doing and reiterated the calling and vision of the University when constructing an institution that passes frontiers for what it does in different knowledge areas.
On the other hand, the Director of Linking, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro and the Director of Infrastructure and University Services, M. Eloy Juárez Sandoval, conceded that this work rescues the life forms of different times and the contribution of this so UG can fulfill its mission to serve society and strengthen its prestige.
On his behalf, Director of the Department of Studies of Culture and Society, Lic. Diego León Rábago, said that this book rescues the ex-votes, which are cultural heritage of the State of Guanajuato.
At the event were also present: UG's Rector from Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández; and the delegate of INAH in Guanajuato, Lic. Sergio Ramón Tovar Alvarado.
