
Guanajuato, Gto., February 3, 2016.- Ignacio Marchan Embarcadero, from High School (ENMS) Leon, obtained the silver medal at the XXV "Olimpiada Nacional de Biología" (XXV National Biology Olympics) celebrated in Xalapa, Veracruz.
Iván Alexander Bayardo Ferreria, Mario Andrés Salazar Gaytán from ENMS Historic Downtown, José Candelario Vera Hernández from ENMS Silao and Alan Enrique Olivares Reveles from ENMS Salamanca were the representatives of UG that were part of the delegation of the State of Guanajuato.
About the matter, the silver medal winner, Ignacio Marchan Embarcadero, said that this was "without a doubt one of the best experiences I have had, the most fun and satisfying, the fact to take a medal and raise high the name of your state is priceless, knowing people from all the country and learn new accents and words, coexist with friends and live unforgettable experiences".
Approximately 170 students participated in the National Biology Olympics, who formed 29 delegations from the different states in the Mexican Republic.
This contest has the purpose to choose the best pre-college students of Biology in the country and integrate the delegation that will represent Mexico in the XVI International Biology Olympics to be celebrated in July in Hanoi, Vietnam or in the Spanish American contest to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in next September.
The tests were individual and the exam was in two stages: a theoretical test in which all the students participate and another experimental where only participate the student with the highest grades in the first stage.
It is worth to mention that the students were advised by the State delegate, Dr. Rosa María García and professors from the Department of Biology, Dr. Vianney Olmedo, Dr. Bernardo Franco Bárcenas, MC. Juana Lólez Godínez, as well as professors from their schools that from the beginning were present, among them Mario Andrés Salazar Gaytán, José Candelario Vera Hernández, Luis Arturo Sandoval Ruiz, Oscar Saúl Morales Tatoya and Gustavo Zayd Sandoval, and the ex-Olympic and medalist, Paulo Adrián Rodríguez López.
