Guanajuato, Gto., February 3, 2016.- The student of the seventh semester of the Chemist-Pharmacist-Biologist degree of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) from Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato (UG), Erik Iván Velazco Cabral, created a solar filter that can only be used in patients with rosacea.

This solar filter has antioxidant properties and can be used as treatment for rosacea, it has been tested in patients with this illness and as a result of the constant use, there is notable diminish in the illness.

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by facial redness, pimples and in more advanced stages, the skin thickens.

On the matter, Iván Velazco, explains that this is the only solar filter made completely of natural ingredients, that in addition can be used in sensitive areas such as the eyes.

Likewise, the 21 year sold student mentioned that his interest for the topic emerged since the degree, when his mother was diagnosed with this condition, which provoked him to begin researching and as a result of this research he obtained this beneficial formula for patients with high sun sensitivity.

In addition, recognized and thanked the support given from his advisors in the project, Dr. Miguel Ángel Vázquez Guevara, Dr. Yolanda Alcaraz Contreras and QFB. Alfonso Trujillo Valdivia.

It is worth to mention that Erik Iván, was awarded with the third place in the 10th edition of the "Concurso de Creatividad e Innovación" 2015 organized by UG, in the category of "Proyecto Invención Licenciatura". This proposal awarded him also the recognition from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), who gave a medal to entrepreneur students from UG.
