Guanajuato, Gto., February 6, 2016.- Students from the Division of Engineering of Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato (UG), participate in the project "Brigadas de cultura del agua" (Water culture brigades) to divulge a hydric culture in society.
Students Zyanya Tapia Osornio, of the fourth semester of the Environmental Engineering degree; Carlos Rogelio Rodríguez Padilla, of the third semester of the Geomatics Engineering degree, and Mauricio Rodríguez Puga, of the fifth semester of the Hydraulic Engineering degree, join this initiative with the expectation to generate a change in people's awareness.
In an interview, Carlos Rodríguez mentioned that what really caught his attention of this brigade, was the possibility to communicate and sensitize people about water usage. Through the project of the water footprint, he could attract attention of his fellows, because the water usage numbers are alarming.
The water footprint, is the use of water generated from fabricating the materials we use every day, such as shoes, paper, clothing and other elements.
Currently, the students are in training with the support from SIMAPAG, who has also opened its doors to make visits to the filters and treatment plants. All that with the purpose that in a future, assist to basic level schools in planting orchards with the purpose that the children know the amount of water required for the maintenance of plants and so they can know the different watering systems and its function.
The students expect that promoting a culture of water care in small children, you can forge an early awareness so in a future, society is benefited with positive actions.
It is worth to mention that the students have been in charge of divulging the project and invite all the university community to follow them through their Facebook profile www.facebook.com/BrigadistasUG, to find updated information about the activities they make.
